Olivia Wilde and Emma Stone have signed on to host the EIF Revlon Run/Walk, which benefits cancer research.
The actresses are both first-time ambassadors for the event, which is one of the largest single-day fundraisers in the Unites States and will take place on May 5 in New York.
"Emma and I will kick off the event and welcome everybody, then we'll participate," said Wilde, The Associated Press reports. "Maybe Emma will run in the front, and I'll bring up the rear. I probably will have such shin splints after attempting to run I will be recovering on ice."
This event has raised up to $65 million in cancer research funds to date.
Cancer hits home for Wilde, who has known many women who have been affected by it. She talks about finding a cure by saying, "I'm optimistic that in my lifetime we will find one. Or certainly in the same way that's happened with HIV in the last thirty years where treatment has gotten to a much better place. But that can only happen if there's money behind research and that doesn't just happen magically.”
She goes on to say, "It's incredibly important to view the influence that multi-national companies like Revlon have for the greater good."
On May 12, the event will go to Los Angeles, where Oscar-winner Halle Berry will host for the sixth time.
"It is almost impossible to describe the feeling of standing before tens of thousands of women, men and children at the EIF Revlon Run/Walk,” said Berry, MSN Money reports. “There is such unity, emotion and hope among the participants and it is truly an honor to once again lend my name to the event and the ongoing fight against women's cancers. Please join me in spreading the word so that we can further the research efforts and continue to save lives."
