Rapper A$AP Rocky and his crew got into a fight with the crowd at his performance at the South by Southwest music festival in Austin, TX Sunday morning.
According to Spinner.com, A$AP Rocky and his crew, the A$AP Mob, were performing at the Vice Kills Texas party at 3:00 a.m. It was the last of a set of performances the rapper had scheduled in a 24-hour period, which included three on the last day of SXSW.
The set started out fine, but it took a turn for the worse when a member of the audience appeared to rip a do-rag right off the head of one of the members of the crew. Rocky stopped the show, hoping to get it back, but instead, someone in the audience threw a can of beer onstage.
Fuse.tv reports that Rocky did try to stop the incident from getting any worse, yelling to the crowd that, “We want to have fun. People came to have fun.” He also begged the crowd to stop throwing things onstage, but the drunk crowd refused to listen. For a time, it seemed like everything had calmed down, but after another can was thrown, members of the crew rushed into the crowd. After several minutes of fighting, police and organizers shut down the show and people either left or tried to film the incident.
Spinner reports that there was an injury, as a member of the audience had a gash on his head.
BET notes that this is the second time that Rocky has been involved in a scuffle during a performance. The crew allegedly went after a sound guy during a New York show last year.
The entire SXSW incident was caught on tape. You can watch that video, which contains strong language, below:
