Whitney Houston’s close friend, R&B singer Ray J, has recently spoken on behalf of his feelings of Houston’s death. Ray J has admitted it is still an extremely difficult time for him.
During an appearance with the Brotherhood Crusade and Mothers in Action Organizations on Friday, Ray J added his feelings on Houston’s passing into his address. The event was held on Friday at the Los Angeles Sentential office, reports the Hollywood Reporter.
According to E! News, Ray J attended the event to give out gifts to young children who are involved in the organization. While he knew his main focus was on the children, he was also aware that people desired him to speak out on Houston’s death.
This was Ray J’s first public appearance since Houston’s passing, reports E! News.
“It’s just such a tough time for me,” Ray J said at the event. “I’ve been though a lot in these past few weeks.”
While Ray J admits that he is “still hurting,” he also shared with the group that his loss has helped gain a new perspective on life.
“I’m able to look at life in a whole different way. I always look at my phone because I…I got a picture of somebody I really love and it helps me through the day,” Ray J said. “But for the most part, I’m here for the kids. I’m here to give back, laugh with them, hug them, give them anything they need.”
