Russell Brand—who threw a paparazzo’s iPhone through the window of a downtown New Orleans law firm on Monday, turned himself in to the police today after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
According to RadarOnline, the New Orleans Police issued a misdemeanor arrest warrant late Wednesday in connection with simple criminal damage in the amount of $700.
Though Brand, (his “people” actually), says a TMZ source who was inside the office when the outburst occurred) allegedly offered to pay for the shattered window, that did not appease the injured parties.
The incident took place in New Orleans, when photographer Timothy Jackson tried to snap a shot of the British actor. Brand grabbed the phone, hurling it at the window.
Before heading to the slammer on Thursday, the comedian took to Twitter to joke about the skirmish, quipping, “Since Steve Jobs died I cannot bear to see anyone use an iphone irreverently, what I did was a tribute to his memory.”
In an interview with RadarOnline, the Public Information Officer at the Sheriff’s office explained that“Russell’s bail amount hasn’t been set yet.”
