American Idol now has nine singers to narrow down to just one winner, and there will be a new mentor to guide the singing hopefuls on next week’s episode.
Idol executive producer Nigel Lythgoe confirms that Stevie Nicks will be on hand to mentor the nine remaining contestants next week.
Access Hollywood reports that Lythgoe tweeted a picture of himself with the Fleetwood Mac singer on set of the competition show with the caption "Our mentor was great this week."
Nicks and Jimmy Iovine – Idol’s resident mentor -- go way back. Iovine and Tom Petty produced Nicks’ album Bella Donna in 1981.
Meanwhile, the last contestant to get voted off of Idol is Erika Van Pelt.
"I felt confused every week, I'll be honest," Van Pelt told MTV News. "I felt there was a lot of contradiction, and as an artist and someone who takes their singing very seriously, it's hard for me to take critique of my work, period, and then when you feel like you sorta have people telling you one thing and then telling you something completely different the week after, it's hard.”
However, Van Pelt, who debuted a drastic hair change the week she was eliminated, admitted, "This might sound really weird, but I feel like my fellow contestants taught me the most.”
