Billboard announced the finalists for the 2012 Billboard Music Awards this week. The awards will be handed out live on ABC and will feature performances from plenty of best-selling artists. Justin Bieber, Carrie Underwood, LMFAO and The Wanted are all scheduled to perform during the ceremony on May 20.
Underwood’s performance will follow the recent releases of her new single “Good Girl” and her latest album, Blown Away. She has become one of Billboard’s best-selling country artists. Her 2005 debut Some Hearts topped the Country Album chart for 27 weeks and was named the No. 1 Country Album of the Decade by Billboard. Her follow-ups, Carnival Ride and Play On, both debuted at number one on the Country and All-Genre charts.
Bieber will be releasing Believe on June 19 and has already released the lead single, “Boyfriend.” In 2011, both Never Say Never: The Remixes and Under The Mistletoe topped the Billboard 200 albums chart. Bieber is also a finalist in several categories.
British boy band The Wanted has become a hit in the US thanks to the success of “Glad You Came.” The album topped the Mainstream Top 40 chart and reached number five on the Hot 100 chart.
The 2012 Billboard Music Awards will air on ABC live on May 20 at 8 p.m. from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
