The View co-host, Sherri Shepherd, seemed to have a promising season on Dancing with the Stars, so it came as a shock that she was eliminated from the show on Tuesday night.
Shepherd was emotional upon her elimination, and she was crying even as she stood in the bottom three with Roshon Fegan and William Levy.
“I love this whole experience so much, I love to dance,” she told host Tom Bergeron before she got the bad news, The New York Daily News reports.
The couples who had the lowest scores from the judges, Gladys Knight and Tristan McManus and Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff, were deemed safe early in the night, The Los Angeles Times reports.
When eliminated, Shepherd said “Thank you for letting me live a dream. I want to say to every person out there, that the thing that scares you the most ... run toward it, because it’s so amazing on the other side.”
Her partner Val Chmerkovskiy said of his partner, “She’s an incredible person. She fought for me, and I’m just really, really, really, really sorry I didn’t do a good enough job for you.”
Meanwhile, the other competitors were also shocked to see Shepherd go.
Knight told E! News backstage while Shepherd went off to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, "I talked to her. She's hurting right now," adding, "Anybody that has to leave this family is going to be disappointed. It's unreal to say you wouldn't be. It's crazy. I don't get it. I can't be totally happy about [staying] because Sherri had to go."
“Sherri was doing so well and I'm just shocked! I did not see that coming," added Katherine Jenkins. "I can't believe she's gone."
