The girlfriend of Clark Gable’s only son was found dead Thursday in the couple’s Malibu home.
According to police, foul play is not suspected in the death of 41-year-old Christiane Candice Lange.
John Clark Gable told police that Lange said she was feeling unwell the night before and went to bed. He then said that he was unable to wake her the next morning. Police were called shortly before noon.
An autopsy is pending, although police suspect that Lange, who was a makeup artist and hair extension specialist, died from prescription drugs or natural causes. Results are expected to take up to two months.
Gable, whose mother is Kay Williams (the elder Gable’s fifth wife), was born shortly after his legendary father’s death in 1960. He works as an off-road car racer, but occasionally takes small acting roles.
The actor’s grandson, Clark James Gable, was arrested in July for pointing a laser at a Los Angeles Police Department helicopter. He was sentenced to 10 days in jail.
"Boys will be boys, and he was playing with what he thought was a toy and not a felony piece," his manager, Roxane Davis, said at the time. "From what he told me from jail, he had it out the window and he was shining it out the window, and the next thing he knew was that he had a spotlight on him.”
