According to The Washington Post, White will write, produce, and perform the score for the movie. It will be the first time that the White Stripes front man scores a film.

This will not be White’s first musical contribution to the world of movies. He previously wrote “Another Way to Die,” which served as the theme to 2008’s James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, which was a duet with Alicia Keys.

The Lone Ranger will star Armie Hammer as the titular character and Johnny Depp as his sidekick, Tonto. Gore Verbinski will be sitting in the director’s chair.

MTV News reports the film will be a twist on the old TV show. The main focus will shift from The Lone Ranger to Tonto, and Depp has a new twist for the character planned.

“I like the character. I think I have interesting plans for the character, and I think the film itself could be entertaining and very funny," said Depp.

The Lone Ranger is expected to be released on May 31, 2013.

White’s debut solo album, Blunderbuss, was released on April 24.
