Britney Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, has full control over his daughter as her conservator, but has asked the court to name his daughter’s fiancé a co-conservator.

A source has confirmed to People that Jason Trawick will share legal control of Spears, but only for her well being. As for her finances, the pop star’s father will remain in full control.

"This is a very unusual situation, because generally you don't see conservatees get married," said an L.A. probate attorney, Jeffrey S. Cohen. "This could be a sign that the couple's wedding is around the corner."

He added, “This is probably a compromise between Britney, her father and Trawick to get the marriage off on the right foot. Obviously, her future husband needs to have a say in her well being."

According to The New York Daily News, Spears and Trawick got engaged on the “Slave 4 U” singer’s 30th birthday last December.

Spears took to her Twitter account at the time to tell her fans the next day, “OMG. Last night Jason surprised me with the one gift I've been waiting for," Spears tweeted to her fans. "Can't wait to show you! SO SO SO excited! Xxo."

Spears’ father took control of his daughter’s finances and other aspects of her life in 2008, right after she suffered a mental breakdown in which she was hospitalized and was publicly seen shaving her head.
