On last night’s episode of Andy Cohen’s Watch What Happens Live,
Precious star Gabourey Sidibe revealed that Joan Cusack did not initially support her acting career.
According to the Huffington Post, during the “Plead the Fifth” segment of the show, Cohen asked Sidibe, “What celebrity were you most disappointed by when you finally met them?”
Sidibe replied, “What celebrity was I disappointed by? Oh, and it's not in a mean way, because I know that she meant well. I met Joan Cusack, who is my favorite favorite -- I love her -- but, it was before I became [famous] or whatever. I was at some industry party, and she says, ‘Are you an actress?’ And I said, ‘Yeah!’ And she says, ‘Oh honey, you should really quit the business, it's so image-conscious.’”
Sidibe defended Cusack's actions claiming that she “meant it in a good way.” Despite Sidibe’s defense, Cohen was in shock.
Aside from her starring role in Precious, Sidibe has appeared in Tower Heist and the TV series, The Big C. She will next appear in Seven Psychopaths beside Colin Farrell, Woody Harrelson, and Christopher Walken.
Cusack’s brother John will star in The Raven which will be released tomorrow.
