Katy Perry says her comments in Teen Vogue saying she was 'tired of being famous already' were meant 'in jest'

Katy Perry has a love-hate relationship when it comes to news about herself. The 27-year-old “Part of Me’ singer had to set the record straight about rumors a few times before, and now she’s once again fuming.

In a recent interview with Teen Vogue, the singer said she was “tired of being famous already,” which was in response to a question asking if she’d ever get tired of fame.

"I'm tired of being famous already!" she said in the magazine. "But I'm not tired of creating. Fame is, I think, just a disgusting by-product of what I do. It's quite a delicate creature — it's a wild animal of sorts. It can love you, and then it can attack you.”

Perry tweeted on Monday that her comments in Teen Vogue were “in jest” above anything else. She says a quote was taken out of context and misinterpreted.

“O the joy of something verbally said being taking out of complete context in PRINT,” she tweeted. “This is why there's a continuous ♥/☹ [love/hate relationship] for the media world. U see, the fame quote was spoken in jest (which is typical of me) BUT it's not really about that. The fact is: my success, & u my fans have afforded me the most incredible luxury: to grow as an artist & a human. THAT, I could not be more grateful for."

Perry did say in the magazine that she hopes to be “as approachable and relatable as possible” and “stopped focusing on what other people think a while ago.”

The last time Perry took to Twitter to deny rumors was after reports that she had dissed Beyonce and Shakira’s “Beautiful Liar.”

"F*** all y'all (press) dat thinks I dissed anyone, puhlez," Perry wrote at the time, according to MTV News. "U havin a slow news day or what?! Get a life, cuz it's not mine! #hoodratcominout."
