More hearsay and uncertainty comes from the change-up happening to the Saturday Night Live cast! As previously reported on TheCelebrityCafe.com, producers and fans alike are trying to sort out rumors about who is going to appear (and not appear) in the cast next season.
Entertainment Weekly reported Kristen Wiig’s take on the rumors flying around, although she did not answer the question on everyone’s mind: will she return next season?
Talking to good friend Alec Baldwin on his podcast, she addressed the rumors, saying that even she is unsure of what lies in her SNL future. As she actively takes on projects, she does say it will be a sad day when she leaves.
“Everyone has to leave…and I will say that when I do leave, it’s not because I’m sick of it and not because I see something better or anything like that. It’s just that it’s time. When I do leave, it will be the hardest thing.”
While cast does come and go, it does seem that Wiig is already contemplating a future where she does not have SNL on her plate. She is also seeking to expand on her screen-time resume, adding non-comedic roles to her schedule.
“There are a couple of things that I’m looking at doing next that aren’t comedies at all. One of them is really not at all,” she added. It seems that Wiig is getting plenty of offers from other places.
Baldwin then joked about how it will be ‘so tough’ for Wiig to find work after leaving SNL. But Wiig seemed optimistic and shot back, ““I don’t know. I may go back to open up a canoe shop.”
SNL press releases have already confirmed that Kate McKinnon will be joining the cast come next season; is she the next female lead after Wiig leaves?
