Ryan Seacrest sat down with Matt Lauer this morning on the Today show to announce he will be in London covering the Olympics this summer!
"I've worked with the E! network for years, and NBCUniversal and E! are in the same family," Seacrest told Lauer during their sit-down, via E! News. "The plan is for me to join the NBC family and continue to have a role at the E! network. The first assignment will be to join the prime time team for the Olympics on NBC."
Many did not see this coming, but instead speculated that the E! personality was going to replace Lauer instead.
The two joked about the rumors, "Oh, they didn't tell you?" Seacrest asked, before adding, "I see you doing this for as long as you want to, so maybe the question is, how long will you be on the Today show?"
Seacrest is building a media empire of his own, between maintaining all of his hosting gigs, a production company and a radio show, so it prompted Lauer to question: "With all that you've got going on right now, where do you see yourself in five years?"
The media mogul laughed and replied with, "Same height, but um hopefully balancing everything I've been able to build and doing a good job at it…"
According to CBS News, Ryan Seacrest Media holds stake in AXS TV and Ryan Seacrest Productions will be working to produce content for them.
