'Today' show spokesperson denies claims by Kathy Griffin that she was banned from the NBC show

By Gina DiFalco,

Comedienne Kathy Griffin claimed to be banned from the Today show, again.

Griffin, 51, said she heard that she got into an argument with anchor Natalie Morales, 39, which isn't true.

She told USA Today, "I just found out, I'm very excited, I'm re-banned from the Today show.”

She went on to explain, "I just want you to know, over the years since Suddenly Susan in 1996, I have been banned and re-banned from the Today show by several people."

Griffin notes those who have had her banned, saying “Katie Couric at one point. Matt Lauer at one point. This time my camp heard that it was actually Natalie Morales - who is on the show, I don't even know if she's the co-host, I think she reads the news."

The new star of Kathy on Bravo said that she knows Morales from meeting her on set of The Marriage Ref, as well as the Today show.

But, “What I heard from their team is that I was rude to her at the Golden Globes. Which is funny because I didn't go to the Golden Globes.”

She said she doesn’t remember seeing the anchor at any of the parties, which she did attend, and admits “I didn’t really belong at.”

However, the NBC show is now saying that Griffin has not been banned.

Today spokesperson Megan Kopf told MediaBistro's TVNewser, “The idea that ‘Today’ show anchors and hosts ban guests from appearing on the show is silly... There was no incident between Natalie and Kathy at the Golden Globes or anywhere else. In fact Natalie is a big fan of Kathy’s.”
