Trailer: HBO's 'The Newsroom' marks Aaron Sorkin's return to television

By Bob Doda,

A trailer released by HBO for the upcoming series, The Newsroom, created by the mad-political scientist/writer Aaron Sorkin, will explore the inner-workings of a cable news program whose star played by Jeff Daniels, is about to ‘get real’ with America.

According to
HBO.com and NPR.org, The Newsroom will premiere their 10-episode season on June 24. Sorkin, known for such films as A Few Good Men, The American President, and The Social Network as well as executive producing and writing a majority of the Emmy magnetic show, The West Wing, has his finger-prints all over the trailer with his trademark wit, flashy dialogue, and polarizing political views. The arena of 24/7 cable news seems like a perfect place for him to leave his next mark on television history.

Alongside Daniels (as Will McAvoy, the “Jay Leno of news anchors”) are Emily Mortimer, Alison Pill, Dev Patel, John Gallagher, Jr, Olivia Munn, Thomas Sadoski and veteran actor Sam Waterston.
