Chris Hemsworth’s life could not be any better. He is literally lighting up the screen as Thor in Marvel’s The Avengers and will soon be starring alongside Kristen Stewart in Snow White and the Huntsman. Now, Hemsworth and wife Elsa Pataky have revealed that they just welcomed their first child, daughter India.
The Australian actor, 28, confirmed the happy news to USA Today on Saturday. "We love the country and love the name," he told the site, adding that India was born on Friday.
Hemsworth also spoke to E! News’ Giuliana Rancic, explaining that their child would be named after India no matter what her gender turned out to be. "It was just a name we liked, I always kind of liked Indie or Indiana for a boy and she liked India," he said. "We sorta went, 'Oh well, whether it's a boy or girl that will decide.' It just seemed to fit."
Hemsworth also played coy about the exact day and time of India’s birth, seeming to contradict USA Today’s report. When asked to confirm by Rancic, he only said “Very recently...This is my politician, kind of, not giving too much away."
He also said that he has been hoping to have children for a long time, adding, “It's amazing, it's really, really exciting…it's tough being here and not back with her."
Snow White and the Huntsman hits theaters on June 1.
