Tennis, comprised of husband and wife duo Patrick Riley and Alaina Moore along with drummer James Barone, teamed up with fashion and pop culture magazine Nylon to debut a music video on Monday. The song, "My Better Self," is from the group's second album, Young & Old.
“Our video for 'My Better Self' (directed by our good friends @LilliputPics) debuted today on @NylonMag!” one of the band's members wrote on Tennis' Twitter account.
The mid-tempo rock song was produced by fellow indie band The Black Key's Patrick Carney, much like the rest of the Young & Old album. Moore is front and center in the retro video as she croons on the stage with two female back up dancers. Riley plays the guitar while Barone drums away as a crowd blankly watches the group's performance. By the video's end, the audience is drawn to its feet, seemingly enchanted by Tennis' on-stage prescence. The real show stealer is Moore's dancing.
“okay, @Rihanna's new video is good, but @TennisInc have the better dance moves,” a fan wrote on their Twitter account.
“My Better Self” premiered the same day as Rihanna's new video for “Where Have You Been.” Both videos feature the singers busting a move, but that one fan enjoyed Moore's moves better. The Tennis singer dances an elaborate choreography along with her two dancers over the mellow song. Moore's black top and leggings along with her sheer blouse definitely fit Nylon's fashionable aesthetic.
The trio is currently on tour supporting their latest album. Young & Old came out in February.
