Jennifer Hudson takes small vacation after murder trial

Following the end of a grueling murder trial, actress/singer Jennifer Hudson spent Mother’s Day weekend going to the amusement park Six Flags.

She was accompanied by her fiancé David Otunga, who is the father of her son, David. Employees at the Chicago-area park described Hudson as relaxed during her stay, which lasted six hours.

"Jennifer and her family and some of the crew had an enjoyable day at the park," Six Flags spokesman Brandon Bruce said. "We are glad we did all we could to provide that for them."

On Friday, William Balfour was found guilty of murdering Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew, who were all shot to death in 2008. Balfour was the former husband of Hudson’s sister Julia and threatened to kill Julia’s family if she left him. He was also found guilty of home invasion, armed robbery and kidnapping. Balfour now faces life imprisonment without parole.

Hudson reportedly cried as the verdict was delivered.

“Going to Great America was a great idea, a way for Jennifer, her sister and David to blow off some steam and release the horrible tension they’ve been dealing with for so many months,” a family friend said. “I wouldn’t be surprised if she and David welcome another baby in the next year or so.”
