Jennifer Lopez hints that she might not return to ‘American Idol’ on ‘Ellen’ (Video)

By Daniel S Levine,

Jennifer Lopez appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday with What To Expect When You’re Expecting co-star Cameron Diaz. While she did get to talk about the film and the possibility of adopting, Lopez hinted that she might not return for a third season of American Idol.

"I really do enjoy it," Lopez told DeGeneres, reports Billboard. However, she said that there are just so many other things that she misses doing that a third season might be out of the question.

"Now this is my second year -- I don't know if I can go for a third year. I miss doing other things. It really does lock you down, which was nice the first year with the babies being three, but now they're getting more mobile, they're about to go into school… So I just don't know." she said.

As MTV News notes, this might be an interesting tactic on Lopez’s part to see if she could get a raise to rejoin Idol. She and Steven Tyler are paid $12 million each to be on the show, which was a record at the time they signed on in 2010. However, Fox is paying Britney Spears at least $15 million to join The X Factor.

Still, Lopez has offered Spears and fellow new X Factor judge Demi Lovato some helpful advice. “I was like, ‘Live TV! Eek.’ It’s a big thing to take on, but I think they’re both more than capable to handle it,” she told Access Hollywood. “I think they’ll have a good time...It’s fun — working with the singers and doing your thing and knowing what you’re talking about from experience and they both have that.”

On Ellen, Lopez also debunked rumors that she wants to adopt a child with boyfriend Casper Smart. "I know I'm being misquoted in the press a lot...[They say that] I want to adopt and I had depression when I had babies -- none of that's true."
