Jared Followill, the bassist for the rock band Kings of Leon, is officially engaged to girlfriend Martha Patterson.
“Yes, it’s true!” their representative told Just Jared. The rep confirmed that Followill proposed to Patterson, a model, at his Nashville home on April 11.
The couple also showed off the engagement ring, a diamond-covered band with a 4-carat cushion-cut diamond.
The 25-year-old musician had only been dating Patterson for a few months before popping the question.
According to E! News, news of the engagement doesn’t come as a complete surprise. On April 11, which turned out to be the day of the engagement, Patterson tweeted, “What a beautiful, wonderfully perfect day.” Fans on Tumblr spotted Patterson wearing the ring at the Coachella music festival last month.
Prior to the engagement, a source for Us Weekly said that “He wants to marry her” and that Followill was looking forward to settling down with her. Another added that they are “extremely happy. Everyone is very excited for them."
In the past, Followill was linked to Twilight actress Ashley Greene and was previously engaged to Alisa Torres until 2009.
Followill will be the second member of the “Sex on Fire” band to marry a model. His brother Caleb is married to Victoria’s Secret model Lily Aldridge and the couple are expecting their first child.
The engagement comes as good news for a band that has had its share of struggles recently. Last summer, they cancelled their tour as rumors of turmoil swirled. The tour was cancelled after Caleb left the stage during a show in Dallas.
