Kristen Bell and Toby Keith to host 2012 CMT Music Awards

By Daniel S Levine,

CMT announced on Monday that actress Kristen Bell and country star Toby Keith have been picked to host the 2012 CMT Music Awards.

Keith, who is up for an award, has been involved with the show that features CMT handing out its own awards for the best in country music for the past year. “Toby Keith and Kristen Bell are a terrific one-two knockout punch for the 2012 CMT Music Awards,” John Hamlin, SVP, Music Events and Talent, CMT said in a statement.

According to People magazine, Keith previously hosted the awards in 2003 with Pamela Anderson. "It's an honor to get that call," the seven-time CMT award winner said. Keith’s latest album is Clancy’s Tavern. His video for “Red Solo Cup” is up for video of the year.

Bell starred in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and currently stars in HBO’s House of Lies. Bell told People that "Country music makes me happy” and that she is excited to meet Keith and hopes to get a chance to meet Miranda Lambert.

The nominations were first announced last month, with Carrie Underwood leading with five. Lambert came in second with four.

The awards will be handed out at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on June 6. CMT will broadcast the show live starting at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
