Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Twitter page exploded with exciting news for the actress. Her new series on Lifetime, The Client List, has been renewed for a second season.
The series has been on air for just a month, but has already been one of Lifetime’s best recent success stories. According to the network’s announcement, The Client List was the highest-rated cable drama in the key 18-49 demographic last week. The April 8 premiere drew 2.8 million viewers, the best debut for a Lifetime series since Drop Dead Diva’s 2009 launch.
“The Client List represents everything we want to be -- fresh, exciting and original with attitude. We love Jennifer and this series, and are equally thrilled that they have connected with our audience, especially as we express our new brand, ‘Your Life. Your Time,’” Lifetime Networks President and General Manager Nancy Dubuc said in the announcement.
Hollywood.com reports that Hewitt, who previously starred on Ghost Whisperer, tweeted the news to her followers. “I'm so excited right now I'm crying!!! The Client List just got picked up for season 2!!! Thank you lifetime! Thank you all for watching!!!” she wrote. She later added, “So grateful!! So excited!!!! Aaaaahhhhh!!!!! Now that's a happy ending lol!!!! Congrats to my cast!!! Love you!!!!”
Hewitt stars in the series as Texas mother Riley Parks, a single mom who works as a masseuse specializing in sexual favors. Cybill Shepherd, Colin Egglesfield and Grey’s Anatomy’s Loretta Devine co-star. The series is based on the network’s 2010 made-for-television film of the same name.
The show’s 15-episode second season will start next year.
Just before the series started last month, Lifetime’s promotional campaign grabbed headlines for featuring an ad that showed Hewitt’s breasts digitally reduced for a magazine.
