Actors Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry will not be returning for the sixth season of the BET series The Game.
Mowry and Hall played married couple Melanie and Derwin.
“As a result of Pooch’s involvement on a new project [Showtime's Ray Donovan], BET is in the process of reworking the casting and storyline of the show,” spokespeople for the network said. “While we will miss the incredible adventures of Melanie and Derwin on The Game, we appreciate all of their hard work, the laughs and wish them both the best on their future endeavors.”
Mowry is currently working on the second season of the reality show Tia & Tamera, which co-stars her twin sister Tamera. New episodes will begin airing in June on the Style network.
However, BET is hoping that both Mowry and Hall can make guest appearances on the show in the future.
“Just wanted to let all my fans know that I will not be returning to The Game for Season 6,” Mowry tweeted Wednesday. “It was an incredible run and I had lots of fun.”
Wendy Raquel Robinson, Coby Bell, Hosea Chanchez, Brandy Norwood and Barry A. Floyd are all set to return for the show’s upcoming season.
Game’s first three seasons originally aired on the CW before BET picked it up and turned it into a ratings hit.
