Singer Rihanna has been recruited to perform during the season finale of American Idol, which airs on Fox on Wednesday, May 23.
The network announced that the Talk That Talk singer had been picked as the guest performer on the night that the long-running singing competition announces its next winner. Rihanna is set to perform “Where Have You Been,” the latest single from Talk That Talk, following the hit “We Found Love.” Last month, she released the video for the track.
According to The Hollywood Gossip, Hollie Cavanagh, Joshua Ledet, Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez are the finalists for Idol this year. The final three will perform on May 22, then one will be eliminated before the final two perform during the finale.
Rihanna’s performance, which will be her third on Idol, will come after she performed on Saturday Night Live this past weekend. The elaborate performance featured her dressed as an Egyptian queen while performing “Where Have You Been.” She reportedly angered the show’s producers for missing the last dress rehearsal.
There are just three performance episodes left, including the May 22 episode. This Wednesday, the final four will perform “California Dreamin’”-inspired songs.
The finale will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 8:00 p.m. on Fox.
