Funny or Die has used the obsession with Fifty Shades of Grey to their advantage.
The site previously teased “brace yourselves for the best video of all time,” about their newest video, which stars Selena Gomez.
On Monday, Gomez teased the clip by posting a photo of herself reading Fifty Shades of Grey with the caption “Catching up on some reading on set with Funny or Die.” On Tuesday, fans finally got a taste of the video Gomez stars in for the website. She stars in “Fifty Shades of Blue,” a parody of E.L James’ bestseller.
In the clip, Selena finds herself swooning over a painter, played by Nick Kroll, after reading the novel. The painter, Carl Blue, has come over to paint a wall for her. He is the complete opposite of the fantasy guy she believes she has met. Her fantasy also allows her to believe he is not painting a wall, but doing something special for her.
When his work is done, she fails to sign paperwork, but instead leaves her phone number and hugs and kisses. The whole situation is confusing and creepy for Carl.
“For a girl who doesn’t talk at all, you have full on creeped me out,” he says. “This has been bizarre.”
