New releases:
Country artist Carrie Underwood released her fourth album, Blown Away. It is full of songs about love, loss and advice for the ladies.
Here is a video from her live performance at the American Country Music Awards of song “Good Girl,” which she co-wrote:
You can catch Underwood on tour this fall.
Norah Jones released a new album called Little Broken Hearts. She co-wrote the album with producer Brian Burton. The album has a cool cover of Jones that was inspired by a vintage movie poster.
NBC's Smash released its Glee-esque album of songs from the show. It is a combination of original songs and reinterpreted pop songs sung by star Katharine McPhee or co-star Megan Hilty. One of the standout tracks for its authenticity is “Crazy Dreams” performed by Hilty. There is even a track of Nick Jonas singing “Haven’t Met You Yet.”
Rapper B.o.B. released his new album, Strange Clouds, a strong follow up to B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray. His song “Both of Us” with Taylor Swift is already a hit. He also has songs with artists like Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown.
Here is the video from song “So Good” filmed in Buenos Aires:
Christian female group Point of Grace is celebrating their 20th anniversary with A Thousand Little Things. Their harmonies have a Wilson Phillips feel and their lyrics are uplifting for those that share their faith.
In other news:
Jack White’s new album Blunderbuss hit number one on the billboard charts.
Reality show The Voice completed semi-finals this week and is down to one contest per judge. Former Mickey Mouse Club Member Tony Lucca remains on Adam Levine’s team. Jermaine Paul, former back-up singer for Alicia Keys and Mary J. Blige, remains on Blake Shelton’s team. Classically trained Chris Mann remains on Christina Aguilera’s team. Young and powerful rocker Juliet Simms remains on CeeLo Green’s team.
The talent is diverse so it can be anyone’s game, however my vote goes to Simms. Her performance the other night of “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” was flawless, showing her true star power.
Meanwhile, though Britney Spears has already signed on for the upcoming season of The X Factor, Demi Lovato or Miley Cyrus are being considered for the final seat on the panel.
Adam Lambert will be back on the American Idol stage on May 17 just in time to promote his upcoming album, Trespassing.
Nicki Minaj will be kicking off her summer tour in Chicago this July.
Also this summer, Jennifer Lopez and Enrique Igelsias will be touring together.
And finally, love is in the air for Kings of Leon's Jared Followill. The bass guitarist is engaged to model Martha Patterson.
