Three out of the four original members of the children’s entertainment group, The Wiggles, will be retiring this year.
Jeff Fatt (Purple Wiggle), Murray Cook (Red Wiggle) and Greg Page (Yellow Wiggle) will be replaced by three new members who will join Anthony Field (Blue Wiggle) on stage next year.
The departing Wiggles hope to spend more time with families, according to Cook. "We've been entertaining children around the world for 21 years and it's important that we plan for the future so that The Wiggles can keep wiggling in the years to come," he said, according to The Associated Press.
The group has sold over 23 million DVDs, 7 million CDs, and has recorded over 4,000 shows, according to Entertainment Weekly. Page, Cook, and Field studied early childhood education prior to forming The Wiggles.
Field, one of the founding members of the Australian quartet back in 1991, will be joined by performers Emma Watkins (Yellow Wiggle), Lachlan Gillespie (Purple Wiggle), and Simon Pryce (Red Wiggle) starting next year.
