Fox’s X Factor has yet to announce Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger’s successors. Despite a series of rumors ranging from the late Whitney Houston to an almost-certain Britney Spears, X Factor is running short on time, but is the program appearing desperate?
Yesterday, it was reported that Disney star Demi Lovato is in talks to replace one of the judges, with Miley Cyrus and Avril Lavigne’s names on the table.
Rumors are surfacing that Brit is making significant "diva-like" requests which is holding up the deal. Among the reported requests are “decorating Britney’s private space and office to certain specifications, as well as what should be stocked in the fridge each day, [which] are driving negotiations to a point of disgust.”
If these rumors are true and the deal with Britney falls through then the reality show will be forced to still fill two judges seats rather than the anticipated one. MTV reports that “never before has a casting process for a reality television show judge been so exhaustingly long and public.”
MTV notes that the unstable negotiations and inability to sign a new judge is making the show look “desperate.” In two weeks, Fox will go to the upfront showcases which is where the show will try to obtain advertisers.
X Factor ultimately has two weeks before making their announcement. Who will it be?
