Nicholas Bishop, Sonja Sohn and John Carroll Lynch are all leaving ABC’s Body of Proof.
The Hollywood Reporter first reported that Bishop and Lynch would be leaving the series, which ABC has renewed for a third season of just 13 episodes. Bishop starred in the series as investigator Peter Dunlop, who was stabbed at the end of last season after a fight. Lynch played Detective Bud Morris, who was last celebrating a baby shower with his wife.
Deadline added later that Sohn, who played the other lead detective in the Dana Delany-series crime drama, will also leave the show. The site adds that ABC is looking to add a sidekick for Delany's Megan Hunt, a medical examiner, to make up for the three departures.
Of the three departing actors, Lynch has already found another job. TV Line reports that he has joined an NBC drama titled Do No Harm as a regular cast member. That series stars Rescue Me actor Steven Pasquale as a neurosurgeon dealing with a dangerous alter-ego.
Body of Proof started out in 2011 as a mid-season replacement, but earned a 20-episode second season. The season finale drew 10 million viewers and a 1.9 18-49 rating, notes THR. It is ABC’s only crime drama.
