Actor Charlie Sheen is reportedly set to play the president of the United States in the sequel to Machete (2010).
Director Robert Rodriguez tweeted the news Thursday.
“ I just cast Charlie Sheen in #machetekills as the President of the United States! Who better? More soon…”
The sequel, entitled Machete Kills, is currently in production in Texas. Danny Trejo reprises the title role and the cast includes Jessica Alba, Mel Gibson and Zoe Saldana.
Sheen’s father, Martin, is known for playing the U.S. president in the series The West Wing which ran on NBC from 1999-2006. Both Sheens acted together in Wall Street (1987).
The sequel will have the government enlisting Machete to stop a cartel leader and arms dealer with a weapon in space.
There is no release date for the movie as of yet.
Sheen, 46, recently stated that his upcoming series, Anger Management, would be his last acting role.
"When I'm done with this business it's just going to be about soccer games and amusement parks," the actor said. "And when this ends, I'm done. This is my swan song."
Management stars Sheen as a former baseball player-turned-therapist. He helps patients out while dealing with his own issues. The series premieres June 28 at 9 p.m. on FX.
