He says he doesn’t blame John Ross for double crossing him since he wasn’t around much when he was growing up. He adds that he wants to make up for that by teaching him everything Jock taught him about the oil business. John Ross accepts and they hug. John Ross then tells JR about Mitch’s threat to tell Bobby what they’re doing. JR replies by telling John Ross that years ago Mitch’s son hit and killed a woman with his car. There was a witness that was paid off to stay quiet. JR tells John Ross to find the witness so they can shut Mitch up for good.

Bobby replies, “Oh yea, it'll be great having a rattlesnake around the house.”

Elena thinks it’s a great idea and they hug. Then, Elena gets a call from Rebecca inviting her to lunch. She accepts.
Shoot to JR moving into the Southfork guest house. He goes looking for Bobby and finds him talking with his long time enemy Cliff Barnes. [played by Ken Kercheval] "Time has not been kind to that face, but I do recall the smell of brimstone and crazy," JR says to Cliff. JR feigns surprise when Bobby says the deal is on hold.
Shoot to Rebecca and Elena at lunch. Rebecca tells Elena that she intimidates her but then says, “I want us to be friends, because then you won't feel like a threat." Elena accepts. Elena then tells her Christopher went through a lot growing up after finding out both his real parents died and Pam, the only mother he ever knew, just disappeared. She then adds that Christopher has always felt like he has to earn being a Ewing.
Shoot to Rebecca coming home to Christopher building a model for his project idea. Then, the doorbell rings and it’s an employee of Cliff Barnes inviting Christopher and Rebecca to dinner.
Shoot to a hotel where Cliff has rented the entire floor. Christopher hasn’t seen his “Uncle Cliff” in five years and wonders why he wants to see him now. Cliff tells Christopher that he wants to invest in his project and offers him $1 million but Christopher thinks Cliff only wants to screw over the Ewings. Christopher declines the offer and as he and Rebecca leave, Cliff says, “You are never going to be one of them, Christopher. Don't let them destroy you like they did Pam.”
Shoot to Ann going to the stables and finding the door open. She takes out a rifle and investigates only to find JR reading through the Ewing family archives. "Bullets don't seem to have much effect on me, my dear," he jokes. He shows her an old picture of Bobby and Miss Ellie and how he spent too many years hating Bobby because Ellie doted on him more. JR then tells Ann that Bobby was right to sell Southfork since it caused such family problems. Ann reminds him that he was the cause of many of the problems then tells JR to lock up when he leaves.
