Fox sets Fall 2012 premiere dates, ‘X Factor’ gets early start

By Daniel S Levine,

Fox announced its full Fall 2012 schedule Monday, following in NBC’s footsteps. Unlike the Peacock network, though, Fox isn’t going to take three months to premiere all of its new shows for the 2012-2013 TV season. Most of the shows will premiere in September.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has picked the second season of Simon Cowell’s The X Factor to kick the season off. The show, which adds Britney Spears and Demi Lovato to the judge’s table, will get a two-night premiere starting on Wednesday, Sept. 13. An hour-long episode will follow the next day, leading into Glee’s fourth season premiere.

Kiefer Sutherland’s drama Touch won’t start its sophomore season until Friday, Oct. 26, just before Halloween, notes TV Line.

Fox will be holding American Idol for its usual mid-season premiere. The Kevin Bacon-starring drama The Following and the comedy The Goodwyn Games will also be held back to mid-season.
