'Game of Thrones' uses George W. Bush head, creators apologize (Video)

By Sarah Burbank-Douglas,

Former President George W. Bush was decapitated and his head was placed on a spike…. in Game of Thrones that is.

According to reports, the last episode of Game of Thrones' first season featured the head of the former president alongside was placed on a spike alongside Sean Bean’s.

However, show creators David Benioff and D.B Weiss contest that the resemblance was an accident. TMZ reports that since the mishap, the two have released a statement which reads, “We use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc. We can't afford to have these all made from scratch, especially in scenes where we need a lot of them, so we rent them in bulk. After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W. Bush."

The statement continues, “We meant no disrespect to the former President and apologize if anything we said or did suggested otherwise."

Benioff and Weiss weren’t the only ones apologizing. HBO is up in arms over the situation and have since also released a statement insisting, “We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste. We made this clear to the executive producers of the series who apologized immediately for this inadvertent careless mistake.”

HBO notes that the scene will be kept out of the future production of DVDs, but for now, check out the scene below:
