Jena Malone is in talks to enter The Hunger Games arena.
Collider reports that with filming fast approaching for Catching Fire, the sequel to The Hunger Games, director Francis Lawrence’s main priority is to finish casting the film’s new characters, which include Finnick Odair, Plutarch Heavensbee, and Johanna Mason.
According to Entertainment Weekly, actress Jena Malone is in talks to take on the part of Johanna Mason, a former Panem tribute who has a killer ability to murder.
Malone began acting at age 12, appearing in the Showtime movie, Bastard out of Carolina, and has appeared alongside Keira Knightley in the 2005 adaption of Pride and Prejudice. She most recently appeared in hit History Channel miniseries Hatfields and McCoys.
In addition to Malone, model and actress Zoe Aggeliki and Alice in Wonderland's Mia Wasikowska were also reportedly being considered.
Despite the rumors that Wasikowska was in the running for the role of Johanna, a rep for the actress said that she was not approached for the role and that she would not be able to appear in the film due to other filming commitments.
Although there are rumors constantly swirling around the highly anticipated sequel, Lionsgate is currently not responding to anything having to do with the casting of Catching Fire.
