Jessica Lange will play nun in season two of ‘American Horror Story’

By Juan C. Guerrero,

Returning cast member Jessica Lange will play a nun in the second season of American Horror Story.

The season will take place in the 1960s at an East Coast institution for the criminally insane, which Lange’s character will run, according to Vulture.

Season one was set in Los Angeles and focused on the Harmon family’s experiences after moving into the murder house. Lange, who is a 2-time Oscar winner, played next-door neighbor Constance Langdon, a former actress who had a dark connection to the murder house.

Series writer Tim Minear talked to MTV News about Lange’s new character.

"She's not playing this kind of ersatz Tennessee Williams character this time," he said. "She's playing a nun. She's playing an administrator of a facility. It's different. In this instance, she's a bride of Christ."

Minear also said that the murder house from the first season might make an appearance.

"I wouldn't rule anything out," he said.

Season 2 will include new cast members Adam Levine, Chloë Sevigny and James Cromwell. Sevigny will play a nymphomaniac named Shelly while Cromwell will play a doctor at the facility.

Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Lily Rabe will also return from season 1.
