Johnny Depp’s publicist has officially confirmed that he and longtime girlfriend, actress Vanessa Paradis, have split. There had been rumors that they had broken up earlier this year and were living separately, but she had denied the rumors at the time.
In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Depp’s publicist said, “Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.”
People reports that the couple had been together for 14 years. They never married and have two children together, Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 9.
Rumors that they had split started in January, when People reported that they were living separately after they moved from Paris to Los Angeles. At the time of the report, they had gone a year without making a red carpet appearance together and were on the brink of splitting. "It's so sad,” one source told the magazine.
According to Celebuzz, the two met while working on The Ninth Gate. Depp, 49, had been linked to several actresses in the past, but has only been married once, to Lori Anne Allison in 1983.
