Jon Gosselin offers public apology to ex-wife Kate Gosselin 3 years after divorce

By Gina DiFalco,

Jon and Kate Gosselin have ended their marriage as well as their once hit TLC show Jon and Kate Plus 8, and the parents of eight children haven’t had the cleanest breakup, becoming tabloid sensations in the heat of the demise of their marriage.

In a new interview, Jon opens up about feeling remorseful for the way he handled the split with his ex-wife, mainly publicly dating various younger women and talking about Kate publicly. He has repeatedly denied cheating on his former wife in past interviews.

"I am sorry, because I did stuff I wouldn't want done to me,” he admits to People.

When it comes to the communication problems they had in their marriage, Gosselin takes some of the heat for it.

"I was passive-aggressive," he said. "Then I'd get mad, but I was the one who wasn't communicating."

Now, things between the former spouses are much better, with Jon saying their communication is better.

"I'll call [Kate] up and say, 'Mady's sick. What do I do?' And she'll tell me," he explained. "She's a great Mom. We just have different parenting styles."

Jon reveals he’s done a lot of self-reflecting, speaking to the late Michael Jackson’s rabbi and not grasping the fame he had from the reality show with his family.

“I've been offered a lot of stuff," he said. "Crazy stuff. It wasn't the right fit, then or now. I don't want [my kids] thinking I take every show just to make a buck."

When talking to Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, he explained "He said, 'There are two things you can do with your fame – sell out or take it and use it for good.' I didn't grasp that at the time."

E! Online reports that Jon and Kate got married in 1999 and divorced in 2009.

Now, Jon, 35, is dating Liz Jannetta, 27, and he’s taken a job as director of sales and promotions for Gameface International.
