Lady Gaga's show criticized by Thai ministry

By Robert Kirchgassner ,

Lady Gaga was criticized by Thailand’s Culture Ministry for using a Thai flag during her May concert in Bangkok.

She wore a traditional Thai headdress and a bikini, while seated on a motorcycle with a Thai flag tied to it.

The ministry stated that using the flag was inappropriate and insensitive to the Thai people.

This is not the first issue Gaga has encountered during her current, popular Asian tour.

A scheduled show in Indonesia was cancelled following protests from Islamists. Her lyrics and costumes have also angered Catholics in South Korea and the Philippines.

She previously offended Thai fans in May when she tweeted that she wanted to go shopping in Bangkok for a fake Rolex.

"We are more civilized than you think," tweeted Thai DJ Surahit Siamwalla.

"She came to our home, but instead of admiring us she insulted us," said one commentator on Thai web board pantip.com.

"I love this city," she tweeted April 30 in Hong Kong. "You can work out & buy a fake Birkin on the same street."

However, there were still fans who flocked to the airport to greet the star when she arrived in Thailand. Some camped outside Rajamangala stadium, hoping to meet the pop star in person.
