NBC has announced the cast of its newest reality series, Stars Earn Stripes, which puts a collection of celebrities through real military challenges. Gen. Wesley Clark has been picked to co-host the series with Dancing with the Stars’ Samantha Harris.
NBC first announced the show in April as a co-production with Law & Order creator Dick Wolf and reality TV mogul Mark Burnett. Wolf, Burnett and David A. Hurwitz will be executive producers for the series.
Entertainment Weekly first reported that the cast will include Sarah Palin’s husband Todd Palin, Olympic gold medalist Picabo Street, The Biggest Loser trainer Dolvett Quince, WWE’s Eve Torres, Out of Time actor Dean Cain, singer Nick Lachey, boxing champion Laila Ali and former NFL player Terry Crews.
Each contestant will be paired with a former member of the armed services, who will help them complete a series of missions based on real military training challenges. One team will be eliminated each week and the celebrities will be donating their winnings to a military charity.
According to Deadline, Clark is a former Supreme Allied Commander Europe for NATO and a former presidential candidate. “I am thrilled to join Stars Earn Stripes as host and look forward to watching the celebrity cast members test themselves as they step up to take on these tough challenges,” he said in a statement, adding that the series pays tribute to those currently serving.
Stars Earn Stripes will premiere on Monday, Aug. 13 at 8pm.
