Getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a huge honor for any celebrity to receive. It's an honor that stars who have stood the test of time have had bestowed upon them, such as Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley.

In 2013, the Walk of Fame will welcome 24 new stars to its prestigious sidewalk. The lineup for the year is as diverse as the stars that already line the streets of Hollywood.

The committee for the Hollywood Walk of Fame picks celebrities who are eligible to receive a star. If those stars choose to accept the honor, they will pay a fee of $30,000.

According to walkoffame.com, the official Hollywood Walk of Fame website, this is "the first time in the history of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce held a live press announcement in order to proclaim the 2013 Hollywood Walk of Famers." The announcement was made inside the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel on Friday.

The elite group includes a plethora of stars old and new. Among the honorees are boy bands turned man bands, New Kids on the Block and Backstreet Boys, who tweeted earlier in the day, "Just found out we're getting a star on the Walk of Fame next year! So honored. 2013 is gonna be a good year..."

Talk show host and comedian, Ellen DeGeneres will get a star for television. Friends star Matthew Perry and Gleestar Jane Lynch will be among the rest of the television stars to receive a star on the walk of fame. Other television stars being honored include Simon Baker, Bryan Cranston and Katey Sagal.

Recording stars Janice Joplin and Thalia and Luther Vandross will get stars posthumously for their work in the music industry. Other recording stars who will get a star are Jennifer Hudson, Jane’s Addiction and Usher Raymond IV.

In the category of motion pictures, Rick Baker, Javier Bardem, Viola Davis, James Franco, Ron Howard and Helen Mirren will all get their own star.

For radio, comedian Steve Harvey will get a star, as well as "Shot Gun" Tom Kelly.

Finally, for theater, a star will be given to Olympia Dukakis and magician duo Penn & Teller
