Get ready for 1D in 3D.
MTV reports that One Direction will film a 3D concert movie slated for a 2013 release.
Details about the film are not set, so the plot has yet to be determined. The band’s management, however, has some ideas.
“It may be documentary footage mixed with a concert film, or it could even be a comedy caper in the style of old Monkees films,” a source close to the band told British newspaper, The Sun.
Simon Cowell, who signed the band, reportedly wants Ben Winston to direct the project, according to The New York Daily News. Winston previously directed a U.K. television special on the band.
The movie will reportedly hit theaters on November 8, 2013, which will pit it against the superhero movie Thor 2. It is expected to be the band’s version of Justin Bieber’s concert film, Never Say Never.
Never Say Never currently stands as the highest-grossing concert film in the United States after surpassing Michael Jackson’s This Is It.
“U.S. film experts are speculating that the 1D film would be similar to Justin's movie and will be a big money-spinner for the boys," The Sun’s source said.
The movie is predicted to be a huge money maker, and all five of the boys stand to earn a massive amount for filming it. Each member is expected to get £10 million, or $15 million.
Harry Styles, one of the five members of One Direction, seems excited about the film. When asked about it, he told The Sun, “"The film could be exciting. My hair would be poking in your eye.”
