Lucy Hale, who currently stars on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars, will make the jump from TV to music.
It was announced today that Hale has inked a deal with Hollywood Records.
Hollywood Records’ current roster includes Demi Lovato, Jesse McCartney, Selena Gomez and the Scene, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, and legendary rock band, Queen.
"Lucy's immense talent and passion for music make her a great fit for the label. We're very excited to be working with her,” Ken Bunt, executive vice president of Disney Music Group, said.
“I’m overjoyed and honored to become a member of the Hollywood Records family,” Hale said, according to Just Jared.
“I’ve admired the careers they’ve made and can’t wait to see how my musical path is paved out. I’d just like to thank Ken Bunt and everyone involved for giving me the chance to show a whole different side of myself, which is a huge passion for music,” she continued.
The Pretty Little Liars star credits Faith Hill and Shania Twain as musical influences, but it was “…Baby One More Time” by Britney Spears that truly sparked her interest in music.
While Spears may have begun Hale’s interest in becoming a musical artist, she will not be following the pop music path. Instead, Hale will get in touch with her Tennessee roots and pursue a country music career.
Hale will begin recording later this year. A single and the completed album are expected to be released in 2013.
