Even though Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained is already in production and a trailer has even been released, the film’s cast is still changing shape. The latest to join is Jonah Hill.
Deadline reported late Friday that the Moneyball actor has joined the cast, which already includes stars like Leonardo DiCaprio, Jamie Foxx and Christoph Waltz.
CinemaBlend notes that Hill is currently working on Evan Goldberg’s comedy The End of the World with Seth Rogen in New Orleans, where Django Unchained is also being filmed.
According to Deadline, it is still unclear what role Hill will play. Tarantino reportedly wanted him to play Scotty Harmony, a kid that loses Django’s wife (Kerry Washington) to DiCaprio’s sadistic plantation owner Calvin Candie, but Hill had to drop out because of his packed schedule.
Hill was nominated for a Best Supporting Oscar for his role in Moneyball and recently starred with Channing Tatum in 21 Jump Street. His next film is The Watch with Ben Stiller, which hits theaters on July 27. After Django Unchained, Hill will work with DiCaprio and director Martin Scorsese on The Wolf of Wall Street.
The Weinstein Company released the first teaser for Django Unchained last week. The film hits theaters this Christmas.
