Selena Gomez is ‘missing music,’ plans to begin work on her fourth album by the end of the year

Selena Gomez says her next album will be "very different" and more mature than her past albums

Selena Gomez and her band The Scene temporarily went their separate ways so Selena could focus more on her acting, but after filming three movies this year, the 19-year-old says she’s ready to make new music.

“I finished three movies this year, so I’m very happy about that, because it’s exactly what I wanted: I wanted to do film for a little bit. But I am missing music, so we’re going to start on the fourth record at the end of this year,” she recently told MTV News.

Gomez says when she does head back to the studio, fans should expect something “very different” from her past three albums. She even has a few collaborations in mind.

“I want to go for producers that probably wouldn’t want me to do their songs. I just want to knock on their door. I also want to work with fun. I want to work with just different styles of music. I also want to work with Taylor [Swift], too.”

Selena wants her next album to be different from her past albums because she is growing up.

“By the time it comes out, I’ll almost be 21, so I want to be able to — wow, that sounds really scary! I want it to be older.”

Much like her music, she is choosing more mature acting roles. There is one mature role, though, that she is not interested in taking on, despite spoofing it on Funny or Die recently.

Selena says she’s not interested in playing Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.

"I know I'm taking risks but I don't think I could do that," the actress said. "That would be a little too much for me."
