Pregnant reality star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi has officially moved out of the Jersey Shore house, MTV has confirmed. For the series’ sixth season, she will live next door.
The cast of MTV’s hit show met at the house for the first time in 11 months last week, reports Entertainment Weekly. After just a few days, Snooki, who is engaged to Jionni LaValle, threatened to move out. She finally decided to make the move earlier this week.
“It’s not a prison,” MTV’s executive VP of programming and head of production, Chris Linn said of the original Shore home in an interview with EW. “I know she’s concerned about the perception of her being a pregnant woman in a party house. I think that’s a common experience among a group of friends when somebody gets pregnant. This is an opportunity to see how she deals with it and how the rest of the house deals with it. The show has always been about following what’s really happening in their lives.”
TMZ called Snooki’s new home a ‘safe house,’ noting that it is right next door to the original house. The single-family home carries a rent of $2,000 a month.
The sixth season of the show is going to be quite different than past seasons. Not only is Snooki pregnant, but Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino is going sober after a stint in rehab and Deena Cortese and Jenni “JWoww” Farley are committed to monogamous relationships.
“They’re starting to take those next steps into adulthood,” Lin told EW, trying to calm fears that this season might be boring because of the changes. “What’s going to be different this season is how much their lives had changed.”
