Actress Danica McKellar, best remembered for her role on The Wonder Years as Winnie Cooper, has filed for divorce from her husband of three years.
According to TMZ, McKellar filed the divorce papers on Los Angeles County Superior Court against husband Mike Verta. In the papers, she cites “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for the divorce.
The New York Daily News reports that the couple have a 1 ½-year old son named Draco. She is seeking joint physical and legal custody.
McKellar, 37, married Verta, a composer, on March 22, 2009 in San Diego.
"I am saddened by the end of my marriage to Mike Verta,” McKellar said in a statement to TMZ. “However, we are committed to raising our son together and we are focused on remaining the best parents we can be."
Since playing the beautiful love interest for Fred Savage’s Kevin Arnold in the hit series that ran from 1988-1993, McKellar graduated from UCLA and became the best-selling author of math books for young girls. Lately, she has done some voice acting work for a variety of animated shows, including Young Justice. She also made appearances on The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother.
