Ying Yang Twins rapper D-Roc, whose real name is Deongelo Holmes, was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Gwinnett County, Georgia on June 1. Police say that there were two children in the backseat of his SUV at the time of the arrest.
According to WSB-TV, the Atlanta rapper was spotted by police swerving, and crossing into the other lane. “He crossed the center line several times," Gwinnett County police Cpl. Jake Smith told the local station on Thursday. Smith added that he smelled of alcohol and marijuana when he rolled down his window for police.
CBS Atlanta notes that police say that there were two other men in the SUV with Holmes, as were the 33-year-old’s two young children. The officer that pulled him over searched him found a baggie with two pills, which were later discovered to be a narcotic called Alprazolam. The officer also found marijuana in the SUV.
"When they're putting their children in danger also, it's completely unacceptable," Smith added.
Holmes has been charged with DUI, two counts of child endangerment and possession of marijuana. He was also arrested twice on DUI charges in 2004.
As TMZ notes, Holmes, who was "cooperative and friendly" when he was arrested, is one half of the Ying Yang Twins rapping duo. They are known for their 2005 song, “Wait (The Whisper Song).”
