Music star Art Garfunkel will release a two-CD retrospective, which includes new songs.
The collection, entitled The Singer, will be available Aug. 28. It will be released by Columbia/Legacy, a division of Sony Music Entertainment.
The tracks on the collection include Simon & Garfunkel’s debut album, 1964’s Wednesday Morning, 3 AM, as well as more recent works like the 2007 album, Some Enchanted Evening.
The two new songs are "Lena" and "Long Way Home."
There will also be a booklet of annotations by Garfunkel.
“We didn't push for exaggerating one's contribution.…There are songs where I am a shadow. As the record emerged, you go, That's what it is. Those are the two personalities. And the sound is lovely as long as the composite works. But as a solo, starting in the ’70s, I became a tenor/baritone, more expressive leading man of a singer. I owned the interpretation,” Garfunkel said of his collaboration with Paul Simon to Esquire magazine.
The duo’s work has earned them seven Grammy Awards over the years. Their songs include "Mrs. Robinson," from the Mike Nichols film, The Graduate (1967).
