On Friday, Justin Bieber found himself in trouble with California Highway Police after he was pulled over for reckless driving. Bieber has claimed that he was being chased by paparazzi and now CHP are trying to find those photographers.
Bieber was pulled over when he was driving on the 101 freeway after L.A. City Councilman Dennis Zine called 911. “Bieber was driving like a maniac,” Zine, a former cop, told TMZ. “He was weaving in and out of traffic. There was hardly any space between cars as he weaved from lane to lane.”
Zine added that it was Bieber who was driving recklessly, not the paparazzi. Bieber’s manager, Scooter Braun, said that Zine “is just a councilman looking for a headline” and that the “Boyfriend” singer was just pulled over for going 80 mph and that the paparazzi was chasing him.
Bieber eventually filed a harassment complaint against one of the photographers.
The Los Angeles Times reports that CHP is investigating the incident and are trying to find the cars that were chasing Bieber. Zine also added to the LA Times that he thinks the paparazzi should be arrested for chasing Bieber, but this doesn’t give Bieber free reign to drive as fast as he wants.
“He was going from the fast lane to the slow lane to the shoulder in traffic. It was a very dangerous driving situation. I figured someone was going to crash, so I called 911,” Zine said.
Meanwhile, TMZ has also posted Bieber’s 911 call before he was pulled over, in which he tells the operator that he is being chased. He tries to stay anonymous, telling the operator that he’s “Justin Johnson” After he tries to explain to the operator what a Fisker is, he says, “They're the ones that are driving recklessly now, I'm just trying to like not have them be on my tail right now...Before I was driving fast so I could get away from them and got pulled over myself."
